"I've come to the realization that I'm alone in this world now. Despite your best efforts, I will always be alone because I can't trust anyone anymore. This is my lifestyle now and I recommend you respect that or I'll make you." |
Years Ago...
It was just your average day on the force. The skies were clear, everyone was relaxing, enjoying the rare day off from missions. Laughter, jokes, soft sounds of snoring from sleeping soldiers were heard all over the camp. Being one of the best trained K9 troops, Shadow (as known at the time), was finally enjoying a day off as well. He was enjoying the day sunbathing, his unique ebony coat soaked in the heat of the early sun. Noon hit and before he knew it the shriek of a familiar voice was heard; it was his companion.
"GRENADE!"
Startled, the brute jumped to his paws, instinctively running towards the sound of his companion; racing through the sudden movements of the soldiers as they hid in cover. BOOM! The sound deafened and dazed the brute for a moment. As he took in his surroundings again, his hazel gaze rested upon a single man laying on the ground. A loud whine left his throat and an ache hit his heart as the brute rushed over to his fallen companion. It couldn't be real. He couldn't be gone...
A Few Weeks Later
As he stood guard in the place his companion was buried, his hazel gaze clouded over. He was still wearing the vest he wore the day it happened, snarling, and biting at anyone who had tried to remove it... Let alone touch him.
A sudden pain hit the German Shepherds hutches, a yelp from his body followed and soon enough the world around him started to become a blur. He collapsed on the ground, unable to stand any longer; although still conscious enough to feel a sudden grip on his vest, the canine felt the ground leave him as he was lifted into the air. As the voices began to fade, the brute struggled against them weakly, finally passing out with a growl.
26 Weeks Later...
A cold surface awoken the brute, as he drowsily sat up. The same old, same old boring scenery. He was in a cage, a metal cage, sitting on top of a metal table. A panicked expression entered the brutes face once more. They had put him out for several hours again! This only happened in pup tales, didn't it? No. This was real. Oh so very real. Day in and day out, the brute had been sedated, poked and prodded; aggravated and slowly going insane. Turning his dome, he felt relieved the vest was still upon his chest and back, but something else caught his eye. His hazel gaze shifted to something sitting outside the cage: syringes. Dread filled his heart, what could they have possibly done to him in those few hours he was out? It couldn't be anything too severe right?
Eventually new people entered the room, lettering on the back of their coats saying "Scientist" As one gave Shadow a generous smile, the brute only responded with a cold growl. The one, a man, turned away, but somehow Shadow could make out what he was doing by listening, he was getting another needle ready. The other two spoke, Shadow could only make out the words, "enhancement" and "secret weapon" Hatred filled his heart, he couldn't believe his ears. More shots? More chemicals to fill his body? No more! He felt hot with rage and suddenly the brute jumped at the cage door before jumping back with utter shock.
He had left a dent in the cage where he hit.
The man turned to see this, fear and excitement written all over his face. Shadow knew this was their doing. Compelled by his rage, the brute jumped at the door once again. CRASH! The door broke open and sent him tumbling onto the cold, tiled ground. As he stood upon the tiled floor, insuring his claws didn't make him slip around, his brown flames didn't waver from the man as he snarled. Shadow rushed towards him tasting metalic blood in his mouth at his dangerous canines sank into the scientist's arm. Shadow backed away and started running off, he felt a little more satisfied as the metalic taste began to fade.
Alarms rang out throughout the facility.
"CODE RED! CODE RED! EXPERIMENT 137 LOOSE!"
The voice cried out several times as the brute ran. He ignored it the best he could as he searched for a way out. He had to get out. He couldn't let these people do anything more to his body. Although, as Shadow ran he felt like his paws were guiding him quicker over the floor. Another thing the scientists did to him. What else have they done to him?! Diving through guards and scientists, he bursted through some doors and saw a window. His way out. Before he knew it, he felt glass scrap at his fur and the air from outside enter his senses. Now he had to keep running, he couldn't be caught again.
Able to break free, he had learned that his hearing, smell, speed, and strength had been enhanced.
The military's secret weapon had turned against them.
To the streets now.
This brute changed his name to Bullet for they could not control him nor predict his force.
Humans did this.
They killed his companion.
They changed him.
Humans are the enemy now.
